Dr Israa Awadh is a qualified dentist and researcher at The University of Queensland (UQ), School of Dentistry, within the Paediatric Dentistry Research Group. Her research focuses on improving equitable oral health outcomes for children and families, with particular attention to how culturally safe, community-led approaches can strengthen access to oral health services for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

Israa leads and contributes to co-designed community workshops with CALD organisations, supporting families to build confidence in navigating dental services while generating practical evidence to inform service delivery and policy. She applies implementation science frameworks, including RE-AIM and COM-B, to translate research into sustainable, real-world impact.

Alongside her research, Israa is building advanced knowledge and skills in paediatric dentistry, with a long-term goal of specialising and contributing to clinically informed, equity-driven paediatric oral health practice.
